On 26 January, Icelandic broadcaster RÚV confirmed that a brand new selection process would be used to find Iceland's next two ESCT entrants. The first edition of Söngur fyrir Ísland turned out to be a success after the eventual winner, iLL BLU ft. Glowie, qualified to the ESCT 29 final after opening the first semi-final in Barcelona.
On 5 February, RÚV confirmed that the second edition of Söngur fyrir Ísland ESCT 30 would include two semi-final shows. On 24 February, RÚV is ready to announce the 12 acts that will be competing to represent Iceland at the 30th edition of ESCT. Artists were permitted to submit more than one song and all songs were required to be performed in Icelandic.
The 12 acts competing in the second edition of Söngur fyrir Ísland are as follows:
Alda Dís Arnardóttir Alda Dís Arnardóttir og Bubbi Morthens Daði Freyr Pétursson og Karitas Harpa Davíðsdóttir Friðrik Dór Jónsson Gummi Þórarins Hildur Kristín Stefánsdóttir María Magnúsdóttir Páll Óskar Hjálmtýsson Rjóminn Sólborg Guðbrandsdottir Þórunn Antonía Magnúsdóttir Úlfur Úlfur
Alda Dís Arnardóttir, also known as ALDA, has represented Iceland at ESCT 18. She will be performing as a solo artist as well as teaming up with long-time Icelandic rock singer, Bubbi Morthens in an attempt to represent her country again. However, ALDA is not the only returning artist as Hildur hopes to represent her country again after last doing so in Donetsk only three editions ago. The runner-up of Söngvakeppnin 2017, Daði Freyr Pétursson will be teaming up with The Voice Ísland winner, Karitas Harpa with a song that fuses both their musical styles. R&B singer, Friðrik Dór, hopes to further his solo career by aiming to represent Iceland after failing to be internally selected for ESCT 28. Several newcomers including Gummi Þórarins, María Magnúsdóttir and Sólborg Guðbrandsdottir will also take part. María also goes by the stage name MIMRA. Iceland's representative at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, Páll Óskar, is also aiming to represent his country after building his career and becoming one of Iceland's most well known LGBT artists. Icelandic popstar, Þórunn Antonía, is also reentering the music scene by entering the selection with a song of a different flavour from her previous Söngvakeppnin attempt. Finally, comedic group Rjóminn, and rap duo Úlfur Úlfur will add some variety to the show.
The twelve acts will be split into two semi-finals of six. Three acts from each semi-final will qualify to the final as well as the highest scoring 4th-placed act. The songs will become available at a later date.

It is time for the results.
Thank you to everyone who voted. A big thank you to Hungary, Estonia, Belarus, Germany and Austria for voting in the semi-finals. An additional thank you to Greece, Israel and Morocco for voting in the Final. Sadly, not all the semi-final voters voted in the Final but we do have a valid result.
First, we will find out the votes from the six members of the international jury. Afterward, I will reveal the televote result from seventh to first as a percentage of the total vote. A total of 222 points will be given out from both the jury and televote.
