Opening Act:
Andreas Gabalier - 'Hulapalu'
Welcome to Austria's National Final, where we will find out which act will represent us in ESCT 31. Andreas Gabalier warmed us up with one of the biggest Austrian hits of our times. Now, let's get ready for the contest! We have 6 finalists, 6 of 18 that survived and are still in the race for ESCT 31. I will explain the rules and then we'll get started.
There are 6 participants in the contest, everyone of them will present their song then the results will be decided on the already classic way. All the participants in ESCT 31 will be able to send in votes which will count 50% of the final result, while the other half of points will be decided by an internal juror. Every participant from ESCT 31 who wants to vote will give in points this way:
6th place - 1 point
5th place - 4 points
4th place - 5 points
3rd place - 6 points
2nd place - 8 points
1st place - 12 points
In the end the amount of points will be calculated and by the order of the total points there will be a final table. The whole points will be transformed this way:
6th place - 5 points
5th place - 6 points
4th place - 7 points
3rd place - 8 points
2nd place - 10 points
1st place - 12 points
This will represent half of the results. For the other half, an internal juror will directly give points to the songs as a final result, the way that the voters gave them as a whole. In the end the 2 sets of transformed points will be added and the song with the most points will be the winner and Austria's entry for ESCT 31. In case of equality, the voters' winner will count the most. In case of equality before the voters' sum is transformed, the song with the most highest points received in one set, will have the upper hand.
Everyone is invited to vote, however only 10 voters will count, in chronological order. It is needed a number between 5 and 10 jurors, if there will be less than 5 voters, then the internal juror will decide the winner. The contest will be open until Sunday evening (6pm CET), 1st of July or until 10 voters and the internal jurors expressed their choices. We will most probably be the country that will announce the last our entry for ESCT. Let's get started and may the best song win!
1. Sara de Blue - 'Out of the Twilight'
Sara de Blue is a pretty new face on Austrian music industry. She made herself a name this year trying to represent San Marino in Eurovision Song Contest, with the song 'Out of the Twilight'. Many were surprised that she didn't win the national selection, but now she has the chance of a little redemption, trying to get into ESCT 31 big contest.
2. Mayburn - 'Hear Me Calling'
We continue with Mayburn, a rock band formed in 2012, with very experienced musicians, trying to impress us all with their single 'Hear Me Calling'.
3. MIBLU - 'Shooting Stars'
Certainly one of the most distinguished entry of the evening, trying to impress with a lot of musical effects, a dark vibe, dignified attitude and some impressive vocals, we have MIBLU with 'Shooting Stars'.
4. Lea Santee - 'Don't Give Up'
The most experienced in terms of this contest, Lea Santee is in the final of 'Wer Singt fur Osterreich' for the 3rd time in the last 4 editions, being the only artist of the evening previously representing Austria in ESCT, she also being the last Austrian representative that qualified the country into ESCT's Final. I think most of the people will recognize her, now with a new single named, quite suitable with the contest's name, 'Don't Give Up'.
5. FITZ - 'Superior'
Certainly one of the pleasant surprises of the contest, more of an actor than a singer, FITZ is trying to steal it with a strong motivational song, in which he's giving a great example of
staging and execution of a quite pretentious interpretation in terms of vocals, in his single 'Superior'.
6. Olympique - 'True Love'
And we are ending the show with the pop/rock band Olympique, a trio from Salzburg that, as they are saying, are trying to 'offset the classical image of the city with their melodramatic independent pop rock'. They are trying to get to Zagreb with the song 'True Love'.
The vote is open until Sunday, 1st of July, 6pm CET. You have to vote with 1-4-5-6-8-12 points depending on your preferences. Please, start voting now!
